C. is number 40 in the top 100 most dangerous cities to live in.

Washingtontimes.com reported late in 2011 the Metropolitan Police Department made arrest during “Operation Manic Enterprises”.  This operation included using a mock recording studio as cover for a criminal enterprise.  The undercover officers were able to confiscate 171 firearms, seized more than $7 million dollars in drugs and made 70 arrests.  In this yearlong sting they closed 15 armed robberies and two shootings.  One of the big things they did was to break up a Mexican drug cartel that was looking to set up shop selling meth in Washington.  Police Chief, Cathy Lanier said, “Had these drugs made it to our streets, the consequences would have been devastating.  The sting, which ran from November 2010 to November 2011, was aimed at catching high-level drug and gun dealers who were channeling their supplies from as far away as Atlanta.”

One of the men arrested did sell undercover officers 59 firearms.  He also offered to sell hand grenades and a rocket launcher.  I might mention these are not sportsmen’s weapons.  They are stick-up guns used by gang members.

Chief Lanier said, “Words gets around pretty quickly, and almost immediately people began approaching the undercover officers with offers to sell drugs and guns.  In all, police either bought or seized roughly 80 pounds of methamphetamine, 9.6 kilograms of cocaine, 1.25 gallons of PCP, and 23.5 pounds of marijuana, heroin and ecstasy.”

Hats off to the Metropolitan Police Department.  They managed to arrest nine members of the Mexican drug cartel:  La Familia”. And let’s hope that the individuals whom these criminals got hooked on dangerous substances got themselves into one of the Washington D.C. drug rehabs.

Drugs are very harmful to all of us.  You may not see the effect it has on your everyday because you don’t use and abuse.  But if you look at the way your taxes are spent you find out that there a many dollars going to the war on drugs.  If you know someone who wants to get off drugs get them to an inpatient treatment center or heroin rehabs where they can get safe and natural ways to detox and withdraw.  Something can be done about it.
