An investigation done by one of the news reporters or WMBF TV is a tell all; cocaine is still a big problem in South Carolina.  He notes that chasing that high can come at a high cost even if a person can use cocaine and keep their job and home.  A Myrtle Beach drug counselor by the name of Spencer Josey said, “The people that are financially stable and still have drug problems are not quite seen as bad off as people that come through my doors that have lost everything.  But even those who just use cocaine to ‘party’ may eventually find their family torn apart.” Indeed, regardless of income or apparent level of emotional and financial stability, many of these “partiers” would likely benefit from getting help from the Charleston drug rehabs.

According to the 2010 figures from the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Services seven percent of drug abusers are seeking help in crack or cocaine abuse.  Cocaine is the number one hard drug by far.

Judith, a drug counselor, said, “We are still getting cocaine abusers.  And we’re also getting people that are using both cocaine and heroin, which is a thing called speedball.  And that in combination is very dangerous.  That’s the thing that killed Chris Farley and John Belushe because in combination it’s really lethal.” Many of the folks who engage in this kind of activity would do well to get into one of the local heroin rehabs.

Cocaine may be the number one hard drug in South Carolina but, according to state figures, 59% of people seeking treatment in 2010 in this state, similarly to rehabs in Louisiana and elsewhere in the south, were actually addicted to alcohol.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is number 15 in the top 100 most dangerous cities to live in; located in these United States.  Having cocaine as one of the most popular drugs does somehow contribute to this situation.  Drugs harm us and our families and our communities in many ways.  Most of us don’t look at the actual ways they do harm us.  There are a lot of dollars spent to stop the distribution of these drugs.  The abusers of drugs and the distributors however always find a way to get them out and on the streets.  If you know someone who wants to get off drugs get them to an inpatient treatment center where they can get a safe and natural way to detox and withdraw.  Something can be done about it.
