Heroin and Drug Abuse in Henderson, Texas

Benjamin Thomas Ferrell, 36, A Rusk County constable was arrested last week on federal drug and weapons charges.  His wife, Amanda Gayle Ferrell was arrested for delivering a controlled substance.

Ferrell has served as Precinct 2 constable in Rusk County since winning the office in 2004. Both of these people posted bond and were released.

The indictment stated, “Benjamin Thomas Ferrell is alleged to have collaborated with an unindicted co-conspirator from December 2001 to January 2012 to possess with intent to distribute phentermine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone and marijuana.  The indictment alleges that he also sold an SKS assault rifle to a known felon on Jan. 12”

If Ferrell is convicted he is facing up to 20 years in federal prison for the dug violation and 10 years for the firearms offense.  A grand jury indictment is not evidence of guilt.  All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The case is being investigated by the FBI, FBI East Texas HIDTA Task Force and the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.  Jim Middleton is the Assistant US Attorney who is prosecuting.  Rusk County Sheriff, Danny Pirtle commended all the officers who were in the investigation.  He said, “Due to the professionalism and specialized training, the investigation went as planned.  We appreciate the Federal Bureau of Investigation agents for a job well done.”

And so it goes in this great country.  People who we vote into office are sometimes not to be trusted.  He obviously used his position as constable to be in the forefront of the public.  Can you imagine what the guys who did buy from him would say?  They probably had little to no respect for our political system because they knew this guy was getting away with this illegal activity.

Well I guess if you have to buy drugs you just as soon get it from a constable of your district.  It can give you the idea that drugs are safe in this country.
